We’ve made the decision to start a website and bring news and quality long-form writing about Manchester United. A breakdown of the latest manager’s tactical approach? A career retrospective of a legend? A reminder of a great season, the uncovering of a story you’ve never heard, or shining a light on an unsung hero – you’ll find the most in-depth analysis of those stories here on Talking Devils.

Already on the website you’ll find long-form writing looking at various elements of Manchester United culture, past and present.

You’ll find stories about the early days of the club, deep dives into legendary or forgotten figures, exclusive contributions from figures of cultural and historical significance to Manchester United on this website; content that you can’t find elsewhere.

There will be excerpts from unpublished books of Waynes, all the current news and our existing podcast schedule which currently runs daily, and features of unreleased archive material.

“Somebody said that football’s a matter of life and death. I said, ‘Listen, it’s more important than that'”… so said former Liverpool manager Bill Shankly. Well, that may be a slight overstatement, but football is certainly the most important of the least important things, and even if it is a hobby, an escape, at Talking Devils we’ll take Manchester United as seriously as necessary so that you don’t have to.

You’ll find things here you won’t find anywhere else when it comes to Manchester United content; from rare imagery, to never-before-heard interviews, to obscure details about forgotten figures, to setting the record straight with myths around the club.

Podcast

For many years, Talking Devils has been the name of our podcast, without a website. The podcast will continue, with the same increased output that started from the summer of 2025.

That means a daily news podcast with a round up of all the news and gossip associated with the club; the regular weekly show with Paul Parker, usually on Mondays; the pre-weekend show with Lee Lawrence and Phil Marsh, and the midweek tactics show with football analyst Tony Bryson and coach and referee Mike Pieri. There will be additional interviews and podcasts with former players and different guests.

I feel a sense of romance, wonder, and mystery… a sense of poetry.

Sir Matt Busby

The podcast has grown into a trusted voice within the Manchester United community, with a loyal global listenership tuning in across Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube. For supporters seeking balanced coverage, intelligent conversation, and a genuine connection to the heartbeat of Manchester United, Talking Devils continues to set the standard – and TalkingDevils.com seeks to add another layer to that.

Wayne Barton

Wayne Barton is an author and producer of Manchester United books and films. He was described by former United owner Martin Edwards as 'the pre-eminent writer on the club'.
