Christopher Vivell is reportedly making moves to strengthen United at junior level

Manchester United’s transfer activity over the summer was headline business; with the window closed, though, the club continue to make moves, with director of football Christopher Vivell.

As we revealed on this morning’s daily podcast, United have had 17-year-old Senegal youth international midfielder Mouhamed Dabo on an extended trial at Carrington. Dabo has impressed, to the point where the club intend to proceed with a permanent arrangement for his transfer.

Barcelona could still yet enter the conversation; but as to now, they have been content for United to take a look at him, and Dabo himself appears encouraged enough that the director of the Be Sport Academie he plays for are reportedly travelling to Manchester to further the negotiations. TalkingDevils.com understands that conversations are not quite so advanced, even though United are leading the race.

Another 17-year-old interesting United is the Colombia Under-17 captain Cristian Orozco, who plays his club football for Fortaleza CIEF. The clubs have agreed a deal in principle for Orozco, a holding midfielder, to sign when he turns 18 next July. Orozco only recently signed with his current club.

Keir McMeekin, the 15 year old Hearts midfielder, is also on the club’s radar. But he’s also attracting the interest of Brighton and Hove Albion, Manchester City and Liverpool.

It all points to a busy winter for United in that regard as they aim to make more signings in the profile of Diego Leon, who formally joined the club this past summer and played a small part in their pre-season, and Chibo Obi Martin and Ayden Heaven who both arrived from Arsenal. Leon was kept at the club when the choice was between Harry Amass and him to go out on loan; Amass instead went to Sheffield Wednesday, where he is impressing in trying circumstances.

Leon was substituted at the weekend in the U21 win at Liverpool, leaving him open – already, at his tender age – to criticism from the Daily Mail, who suggested the young Paraguayan left-sider has fallen out of senior consideration for the near future. The youngster may well not be in first team plans at present but that is likelier down to the club’s elimination from the League Cup.
