There were numerous things to consider – perhaps the headline item was which goalkeeper each manager is going to choose to go with? Both have made new signings in that position since the last Premier League game, but it is a risk to change for such a big match as a debut.
The midfield battle will be crucial, as will the selection up front. It was universally agreed that United will try to be proactive, which they haven’t always done – and if their performance can match their data, Ruben Amorim could enjoy a second win at the Etihad.
